About Hands-On Phonics (HOP)

Hands-On Phonics was created with one clear belief: reading should feel clear, fun, and meaningful for every child. The program grew from real classroom experience and a deep understanding of how young children learn to read. When reading feels rushed or overly rule-based, children often rely on memorising or guessing. HOP changes this by building strong foundations first, so learning feels steady and achievable.

Reading is introduced step by step through stories, movement, and hands-on practice. Stories play a special role - letters are given roles, relationships, and feelings, helping children understand how words are built naturally instead of trying to remember abstract rules. This approach helps children feel connected to reading, build confidence as they learn, and apply their skills with real understanding. Hands-On Phonics supports not only children, but also the adults guiding them, by giving parents, teachers, and schools clear language, predictable routines, and practical tools so reading support stays consistent across home and classroom.
